This is the 416th issue of the World Wine News publication. Its main goal is to inform you of what's going on around Wine. Wine is an open source implementation of the Windows API on top of X and Unix. Think of it as a Windows compatibility layer. Wine does not require Microsoft Windows, as it is a completely alternative implementation consisting of 100% Microsoft-free code.


Wine 7.6

Wine 7.6 was released last Friday. It is available here, here, and for the binary packages here. The release includes the following:

  • Mono engine updated to version 7.2.0.
    • Imported System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement.dll from corefx resolving 50158 (Oculus Runtime).
    • Imported System.IO.Ports from corefx resolving 52340 (RMS Express).
    • Several improvements for the ELYON launcher.
    • Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) improvements for the Arma 3 and DayZ launchers.
    • MonoDX improvements for Sega Rally launcher.
  • Conversion of graphics drivers to Portable Executable (PE) format.
  • Unicode CLDR locale support.

Wine 6.0.4

Every other week we touch on the latest release to the Wine development branch. Occasionally there are maintenance releases for the stable branch of Wine. On 4/12/22, the Wine maintenance release included 42 bug fixes for programs ranging from Nota Bene to Mahjong Soul.
